Private sessions are the most direct way to work with Ty on building a personal practice, working toward a specific goal, refining your teaching, or putting the more esoteric theory of yoga to practical use.
Sessions are online or in person. Email for availability.
BOOK A PRIVATE SESSIONTy is a yoga teacher based in Paris. He runs a Seasonal Series that explores the year through yoga, reading and conversation — part of a larger move towards a slower, more intentional way of teaching and living. Ty writes on his Substack, Small Adjustments, where he includes personal observations, teaching updates, and the occasional reading recommendation or playlist.
His teaching brings clear thinking and grounded, embodied practice into the same room. He wants poses to be coupled with something to keep your mind present and your imagination available. In class, expect precise physical practice alongside plenty of room to think. Ty appreciates techniques that are simple and repeatable, and he considers cultivating a practice and teaching part of living an artful life.
His perspective includes Hatha yoga, Daoism, philosophy, and the Katonah Yoga® canon. He believes that a teacher's job is not to fix anyone but to help them reorganize and reorient. Ty leans on metaphor and cultural references in his teaching, and is inspired by how words let us communicate, reconcile dilemmas, and tell our stories.
He teaches weekly online classes, leads immersions and trainings, and works privately with students to build a practice that supports their wellbeing and self-reflection. He also offers consulting and mentorship to students and fellow teachers. Over the last decade he has taught throughout the US, Canada and Europe. He is a certified Katonah Yoga® teacher, an E-RYT 200, and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider.
Born and raised in South Africa, he lived in New York City for several years before moving to Paris with his husband and their dog. He welcomes inquiries for private sessions, collaborations, and retreats.

"For me, the most valuable part of the series was the depth with which we explored the spring season in the context of TCM. I had already studied this subject previously—yet Ty brought to light so many new aspects that I had never heard before. It was truly comprehensive and gave me a completely fresh perspective on the topic. Thanks to Ty's guidance and expertise, I gained a deep insight that goes far beyond the usual information one typically encounters on this subject."
"I have especially appreciated being able to explore and work with the seasons in the actual season we are in. It has really changed how I approach my work, life and practice."
"A seasons-oriented bookclub for yogis that blends a physical practice with philosophical teachings."
"Yoga for gabbing literatis."
